How It All Started

I don’t think I’ve ever properly written down my story of how and why I came round to creating this website. As I sit and type this down from the comfort of my bed I so unbelievably missed whilst I was away for a year, I still find it crazy how I managed to achieve my life goal of travelling all the way to Australia; never did I imagine it would be for thirteen months with a boyfriend I’d only been with for eight whole months.

I’ve never been the type of person to takes risks and I’ve always found it difficult to detach myself from the comfort of my own home - even when I was 45 minutes away living in another city for university. So over a year later I still find it pretty crazy how one day I decided to ‘just do it’ and take that risk of being on the other side of the world away from everything that gave me a sense of comfort.

To summarise, I started dating Jack in March, I applied for my Working Holiday Visa in June, in July we booked our one way tickets to Brisbane and November 9th 2017 we set off on a journey I’m sure neither of us will never forget. It all still seems pretty surreal but that risk paid off and we spent thirteen months in five different Australian States - Queensland, New South Wales, Capital Territory, Victoria and South Australia.

Over the course of a year we’ve created so many memories and between us have so many stories and photographs to share. Photography has been a small passion of mine since 2016 when I bought my first ever camera - a Sony a6000, and ever since I’ve been hooked. Travelling was never fully part of my plan; solo travelling was never something I’d consider and I assumed that as soon as I graduated from university I’d have to find a job. But I never expected to be given such a unique opportunity to take my photography to a country like Australia.

I decided to create this website to share my stories, photographs and because writing on a blog is something I’ve always wanted to do - I just never had the confidence in myself to do it and felt insecure about sharing it with people I know. I also saw creating this website as a good opportunity to relive some of the best and worst moments of my Australian trip and everything that’s to come afterwards.

I am really excited to get this going a bit and see where it takes me!
